The Four Seasons brand is known for accessible luxury, yet this Chicago hotel’s public spaces felt stiff and business-like. The mission of this soft goods renovation was to create a relaxed, comfortable environment that would be a destination space for travelers and locals alike. The project included the reception and lounge areas, restaurant, and bar.
Traditional-transitional furniture was installed to complement the classic millwork and granite architectural elements while adding an eclectic flair. A brushed-linen paint technique add subtle texture to walls and referenced the floor colors. Custom carpet designs and wall coverings in bold patterns provide spark and energy. Art was selected to bring in pops of bold color throughout.
The main “living room” honored the dark wood panels while using color and texture in furnishings to add brightness and vitality. A more formal sitting area in lighter tones is anchored by a rich leather sofa and oversized abstract canvas. The dining room is bright and airy, anchored by simple, refined seating in lush gold and blue hues.
Four Season management wanted visitors to enter the building and immediately feel at home – without sacrificing the brand’s reputation for elegance. Friends enjoying lattes in a cozy corner would say the hotel hit the mark.
