The goal for the new Four Seasons in St. Louis was to create a tranquil space for people entering from the attached casino. This project included all interiors from lobby and restaurants to 200+ guest rooms.
Views of the Mississippi River and the city’s Gateway Arch informed much of the design approach. Silvery, textured tiles at the reception desk evoke sparkling water and steel, producing a tone-setting ‘wow’ factor. The graceful simplicity of the iconic arch is captured in the clean, modern lines of furnishings – creating a gently contemporary feel for a reserved Midwestern clientele.
The social lobby’s color palette is earthy and muted for a warm, welcoming ambiance. Wood-paneled columns, a minimalist marble fireplace, and hobnail leather chairs suggest stately but approachable elegance. Sofas in lush orange and patterned pillows provide sparks of refined color and energy.
Guest rooms are simple and restful with hues of gray and taupe, soft textures, and muted patterns. The Presidential Suite evokes an updated modernist home – combining sharp angles and curves, abstract art, and area rugs over rich wood flooring.
Whether arriving for business or returning from bustling casinos, the hotel encourages visitors to take a breath, relax, and recharge in comfortable luxury.
